Bonding and Composite Fillings
Bonding is a widely used method to enhance the aesthetics of a smile. It can be used for a variety of reasons depending on the patient’s needs. Fillings are most commonly used to correct cracks or gaps in the teeth, fill in a cavity after and area of decay has been removed, or to cover up stains and discolored teeth.
For tooth decay, a composite resin is used on the affected teeth. The resin is molded and sculpted over an adhesive gel that is placed on the tooth after the decay has been removed. After the resin has been applied, an LED light is used to harden it. The hardened resin is then polished to give a smooth, new smile.
