Oral Conscious Sedation

Oral Conscious Sedation

If the idea of going to the dentist brings on feelings of fear or anxiety, there are options to help ease the anxiety. Oral conscious sedation is used to help the patient enter into a state of relaxation without “knocking them out”. The patient will remain awake during the procedure, but it is possible that they will not remember part, or all, of the procedure.

Oral conscious sedation is a safe and easy alternative to other, more expensive, forms of sedation. It also makes long or complex procedures seem shorter, allowing the patient to complete treatments in a single visit. A local anesthetic will be given to the area that is being worked on to ensure a painless procedure. Patients must have someone to drive them to and from the office.

Don’t wait any longer to have necessary dental work performed because you are nervous. Ask your dentist about oral conscious sedation to see if it is right for you.
